In today’s society where everything is go go go, it’s easy to feel like we don’t have enough hours in a day. It’s easy to get so caught up in the little everyday things until we can’t see the big picture anymore. Sometimes we just need to take a step back and reevaluate our priorities! Here are some simple and out-of-the-box ways to relax and get ahold of your life.
1. Finish Your To-Do List
I know it may seem counterintuitive, but getting some of your work done can actually relieve your stress. Once you accomplish a few tasks, you’ll feel so much more in control, and that feeling of accomplishment will make you able to further relax! No one can relax when there’s a pile of work hanging over their head.
2. Garden
Everyone’s heard that getting outside and getting some exercise lowers your stress levels. Gardening has the same effects on your body! Even if it’s just taking care of a few plants or an indoor herb garden, according to a recent CNN article about a study in the Netherlands, “In addition to being a source of fresh, healthy produce, gardening can ease stress, keep you limber, and even improve your mood.” I keep a few succulents and cacti, and even though they don’t need much upkeep, I have to agree that taking care of them definitely relaxes me!
3. Get Your Hair Done
This one isn’t based on any scientific study, just my own personal experience! I love visiting the hairdresser because they give you a mini scalp massage, and it feels divine. I don’t know, I just love the feeling of someone else brushing my hair haha-it’s so relaxing! It also feels great to being doing something for me.
What do you think? What’s a unique way that you like to relax? Do you use any of these ways? Let me know in the comments!

I love this post, Kiki 🙂 and I agree 100% with them all, especially gardening. I don’t have my own garden, but looking after my (many!) house plants is super relaxing to me, I completely zone out! And being in nature helps too 🙂 thanks for sharing! x

There is a massage place that charges $22 for a half hour near my office, it is no frills but it totally helps with stress, that is my go to.

Oh I agree with #3 100%! If my hair is a mess, I feel so unorganized. And I could care less if that sounds superficial, it’s the truth. I always tell people you can tell what kind of mood I’m in by how my hair looks, lol.

I’ll do #3 tip because I don’t do gardening since I think I have a black thumb rather than a green thumb. And my to-do list is quite stressful. I also like to add 1 on the list: coloring. There are now adult coloring books and it’s really relaxing filling them up with colors 🙂

I’m not really a gardener but I do imagine as I get much greyer it will be something I’d get into. Hairdressers I can totally feel you on. Those scalp massagers are the best.
